Real Ministry
Devotion for I-LIFE Conference Call 10/2/17
Scripture Matthew 20:26-28, “But it shall not be so among you” but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister and whosoever will be chief among you let him be your servant. Even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to Minister and to give his life a ransom for many. Ministry Matters; there are many saying that black lives matter, all lives matter and therefore must be ministered unto. The ministry in our day has taken on more of a vocational meaning with full time pastors or “ministers” but pastors are not the only one who is to be involved in ministry.
In the early church each Christian was to be in the ministry of helping others Romans 12:3-13
Jesus provided the pattern for Christian Ministry, “He came not to receive service, but to give it”.
Real ministry is done for the benefit of those ministered to, not for the benefit of the minister. Ministry is not about what you can receive, but about what you can give.
Being a servant can be one of the most difficult things that we do; however, the rewards can be the greatest! For example, John 12:26, Jesus says, “If anyone serves me let him follow me and where I am there shall also my servant be: If any man serve me, him will my Father honor.
What a great reward it is when God Our Father Honors Us.
Let us continue to be like Jesus – Living here on earth by being servants who are in ministry.
